SMIL League Procedures and Rules

Age:

If a player turns 60 on any day during the calendar year, then the player may play on a Men’s Interclub League team during that calendar year. For example, a player turning 60 in Dec 2017 is eligible to play in the Fall/Winter league beginning on Sept 20, 2017. A player turning 60 in Dec 2018 is eligible to play in the Fall/Winter league beginning on Jan 1, 2018, but not before that.

Ratings:

None required. (Age is the sole determiner of eligibility to play). This league is not affiliated with USTA. Wins and losses will not be centrally recorded.

Play:

League play begins September 20, 2017 and ends June 27, 2018. Four rounds have been scheduled so that each team will play each opponent twice, both at home and away. Matches will be on alternate Wednesdays with beginning times no earlier than 10:00 and no later than 1:00. Both captains must agree on the start time. Home Captain must contact the Visiting Captain one week prior to the match to set an agreed start time. Attached is the schedule for our 2017-2018 Senior Men’s Interclub League.
Captains may adjust scheduled matches, if needed.

Matches:

Minimum of 3 doubles matches, all to be played at the same time. Best two of three sets, regular scoring. If the teams split sets, they will play a super tie-breaker.
Play your teams in order of their strength so it’s fun for everyone. If captains have more than 3 courts available, contact visiting captain if you wish to set up any additional matches for that same day and time.

Rain Makeups

If feasible, it is suggested that rain make-ups be played on the Wednesday following the rainouts. However, if both captains agree to a different day and time for the makeup match, or for any other scheduled match, this will be acceptable.

This league was formed to make tennis an enjoyable game for all of us. Let’s have fun and enjoy each other’s camaraderie.
