Rossmoor triumphed over The Villages >>>
The Rossmoor Tennis Club held their first annual Calcutta tennis tournament on October 10th, 11th & 12th >>>
East Bay Women’s Tennis League season runs from September through April. Currently, we have two teams: An A3 team for women age 50+ who play at a 3.5 level or above 50+ and a Super Senior team for women 65+, who play at the 3.0 level or higher.
Players can play on both teams if one meets the age requirements. Generally, the A3 team plays home and away matches on Mondays. The Super Senior team plays home and away matches on Fridays. Both teams use courts 1,2,3,4 with warmup beginning at 9:30 AM. There is a combined team practice on Mondays (unless there is a home match), with the start time varying by the season, with earlier start times in the summer and later in the winter. If you have any questions please contact the captain, Mary Benin at "mary.benin .. at .. gmail.com"
It is Golden Rain Foundation policy that ALL Buckeye Courts are open to ALL Rossmoor Residents and their guests for Drop-In Tennis (was Open Tennis) every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Courts 3 and 4. The following guidelines are offered to also allow private game play to co-exist with Drop-in Tennis play.
An Drop-in group is defined as 2 or more players. Sequence of play is rotational. Groups often consist of five or even six players. In these cases, at the end of each game, a new (waiting) player rotates into the server's ad court, the previous server goes out, and the remaining two players rotate clockwise for the upcoming game. To facilitate rotation, games are always played no-ad when people are waiting.
Courts 3 and 4 are reserved and are to be used for Drop-In Tennis. Private game players may sign in at the Buckeye tennis kiosk as usual during this time period beginning with courts 1, 2, 5, 6,7 and 8.
This event has proven very popular and has given many beginning players and those new to Rossmoor an introduction to tennis at Rossmoor. This event is open to all Rossmoor residents and their accompanied guests. You need NOT be an RTC member to attend, do NOT need to sign up, and WILL be warmly welcomed by Eugene Ovalle (Tennis Instructor), and a number of the Wednesday Tennis Clinic loyal attendees. This event is conducted year-round (weather permitting) each Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until approximately 11:30 AM on Court 1 at the Buckeye Tennis Complex.
Using courts 1 and 2, Eugenio Ovalle conducts tennis classes for the first half of the clinic for all player levels. Periodically Eugene rotates through the fundamentals of tennis in a series of lessons over 10 weeks [see below]. Other times, waiting players are queued by Eugene according to a variety of factors which allows attending players to meet and play with several different people each Wednesday morning. It is not only a tennis clinic where you can improve your game, it is really an easy-going, fun social morning.
This event has welcomed countless players into the Rossmoor tennis community. Old timers value this event because it doesn't require sign-ups, doesn't require locating subs, is always enjoyable, and because its a valued Rossmoor tennis tradition. Now the clinic offers free tennis lessons for beginners looking to learn the fundamentals as well as more experienced players looking to hone their game. Come on out, you'll enjoy it.

These Mixed Doubles leagues are for men and women 55 years of age or older. Team match format is three doubles matches. NTRP levels are 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 and 9.0.* *The total of the ratings of the two players of each doubles team may not exceed the NTRP level of the team (i.e., 7.0 team could use a combination of two 3.5 players, a 4.0 with a 3.0 player, or a 3.0 player with a 3.5 player). Ratings for individuals are determined by USTA guidelines.
The USTA is a progressive and diverse not-for-profit organization whose volunteers, professional staff and financial resources support a single mission: to promote and develop the growth of tennis. The USTA is the largest tennis organization in the world, with 17 geographical sections, more than 700,000 individual members and more than 7,800 Organizational Members, thousands of volunteers and a professional staff dedicated to growing the game.
Rossmoor's mixed doubles team plays in a league that starts on September 18th, 2016 and ends on November 13, 2016. There will be a total of ten matches played against five other clubs. Each team will take turns hosting the event. There will be three doubles matches played, with the winner taking at least two out of three of the individual matches. The scores will be reported to the league coordinator by computer. The top four teams in the league will play each other in a playoff format, with the winner going to a sectional tournament to be held at a place to be determined.
When the clubs play each other there will be time to host afterwards. The home teams will provide lunch for the visitors. The Buckeye BBQ area has always been a popular spot when Rossmoor hosts teams from around the Bay Area.
Rossmoor will host other teams on Sundays, starting with practice at 9:30 AM and play commencing at 10:00 AM. The matches at other clubs will be on various days and at different times. One match will even be played on a Wednesday evening. When the matches are at Rossmoor a notice will be in the kiosk with specific date(s) and time(s).
If there are any questions, Rob Ingalls is currently the team captain. His contact information is in the Rossmoor Tennis Club directory.
Practice is always at 9:30 AM and play time is 10:00 AM on Sunday home match days.
