President - Larry Barclay

  • All Board members present with about 50 club members in attendance for this General Meeting

Vice President - Al Peters

  • Will preside over raffle for prizes at the end of the meeting

Secretary - Joyce Decker

  • MOTION to approve October minutes, Seconded, APPROVED

Treasurer - Ken Steiner

  • Reports that approximately $11,400 currently in treasury. After approximately $3400 in expenses (mostly holiday party) approximately $8400 balance will go forward into 2022. Member expressed dislike of holding membership application checks for deposit until Jan. 2022. Discussion followed regarding accounting issues, credit card charges, paypal, Zelle etc. Chris and Ken will look into solutions: accounting, and on line payments

Tournaments - Chris Slee

  • Tournament of Champions was a great sucess! Suggestion was made to have a Wall Plaque type trophy acknowledging winners P. Hanley, R. Benz, B. Benz, K. Steiner. MOTION to obtain a Wall Plaque for annual champions to be to be displayed in kiosk, Seconded, APPROVED. Chris will work with Al on this project.
  • Thank you to all volunteers and helpers for 2021 tournaments and a volunteer sign up sheet passed around to attending members for 2022

Social - David Hickey

  • Holiday Party is Dec. 16, 5-10 p.m. Every one must present vaccination card at entrance.
  • 3 biggest Social events are Valentine, Holiday, and Saturday BBQ Parties. Request suggestions for additional events
  • Thank you to Lenny Cook for BBQ grill work he does. Cook reports GRF has replaced missing briquettes

Membership - Terry Quinlan

  • Membership is 237; Ball Machine has 71 members.
  • Membership Drive 2022 is underway. Membership  can be obtained, preferably on line at this time

Facilities - Jerry Quinlan

  • Crack Repair of courts mentioned
  • Practice Wall has signage at site for proper use
  • Ball Machine has usage guidelines posted and at kiosk
  • Remind members and non members to use Sign up sheets and keep noise down in respect of neighbors
  • Sign up sign at entrance needs to be redone and weatherized Becky Reiss will follow up

Publicity - Amy Bollinger

  • Thank you to Board and members for support, information and suggestions for news. 80 articles have been submitted
  • Need to maintain tennis club high profile. Amy submitting 7 articles / month; Tennis Tips will continue
  • Rossmoor TV channel 28 using tennis photos as filler on broadcasts also featured in display case at Peacock 

Information Technology - Chris Slee

  • No Report

Old Business

  • There is a renewed interest in converting 2 tennis courts to Pickleball courts. Much discussion and suggestions by members with Board
    • Dave Blanchard reports on the residents forum at Planning committee (no firm plans yet)
    • Suggest  writing letters to each GRF Board members and or directly to Tim O'Keefe asking him to distribute
    • Larry is already maintaining collection of all written letters
    • P. Maloney has started a petition to thwart conversion of courts
    • B. Leary has offered to incorporate all letters and professionally present to GRF
    • Suggest we form a committee to lead defense of Buckeye courts for tennis only
  • Updated Officer Job Duties: tabled

New Business

  • Dave Blanchard (with nominating committee) has presented 3 nominees to fill 3 year Board position: Barbara Landberg, Incumbents Terry Quinlan, and Ken Steiner. Unanimous vote of acclamation received
  • Out going Secretary, Joyce Decker thanked for her service
  • Discussion regarding number of courts that can be used by teams in a scheduled match. Agreed that 2 courts should be kept open for member use during team play
  • Thank you to Becky Reiss for keeping information at kiosk well displayed and updated
  • Al Peters held raffle of assorted items to attending members
  • Adjourned

SPECIAL MEETING OF BOARD VIA ZOOM 11/17/21

MOTION for tennis teams to leave 2 courts open for member use (with priority to court 1 and 2), Seconded, APPROVED after discussion.

Discussed formation of AD HOC committee to spear head defense against conversion of Buckeye. MOTION to form committee to insure a positive future of the Buckeye tennis complex, Seconded, APPROVED  Larry and Terry will contact members to gauge their interest in this effort
